KID GOESTING
Appearances can be deceiving. As is with Kid Goesting, label owner and patriarch saint of BlackLabel Records. His larger than life presence, complete with shiny baldness and a remarkable well to do taste for clothing, might give the impression that he can walk through brick walls, but after further investigation one tends to discover that behind all of that exterior is a teddy bear persona.Kid Goesting has become part of the furniture that makes up the Dutch dj scene. Spinning records in every city and every place that will invite him and presenting audiences with his exemplary broad taste in music.
Aside from being a well known dj, Goesting discovered and released some of Holland's best electronic talent. Acts like Comtron (now: producer for the internationally acclaimed Jeugd van Tegenwoordig), Krause (now: just released her first album on EMI), Melomanics (now: incredibly popular electro-band) and Matik (now: ???) would still be experimenting in their parents' basement if it wasn't for the opportunity label daddy Kid Goesting gave these talented artists. www.myspace.com/kidgoesting
SICK BOY
Sick Boy (real name: Robert Smit) has been a regular in the Amsterdam club scene for quite some time. Ever since he started the successful party formula Poptrash, which saw its birth in de Melkweg (one of the two major clubs in Amsterdam), his parties have been popping up all around Holland. Presenting club kids around Holland with such major acts like Sinden, Motor, Feadz, Steve Aoki, Les Petits Pilous, Congorock, MSTRKRFT, The Toxic Avenger... and the list go's on and on.But apart from all the dj-ing and promoting, Smits real passion lies in producing music. His fidgety house tracks found their way to the creme de la creme of the electro scene in no time. And through is nonstop work on remixes for the likes of Motor, StereoHeroes, Dirty Disco Youth and Trash Yourself, he and his collaborator Blake Miller succeeded in getting a record deal with Steve Aoki's popular Dim Mak label. Something of a rarity, because Sick Boy can call himself the only Dutch recording artists on the aforementioned label. His insomnia paid off, big time. www.myspace.com/smitheeonearth
HOMEWORK
No Daft Punk without their robot helmets, no Tiga without his gayness, no HOMEWORK without their white shirts and black ties.BR> Eversince dj's Tom Waist and Zip Stolk got to know each other in the snobbish, Amsterdam-based record store Concerto, their style of clothing has become a signature from which they can't escape anymore. In mid-2007 began they began their relentless conquest of the clubs of Amsterdam and within an incredibly short amount of time the duo build up a strong and grand group of supporters. Partly through their dynamic style and taste: never afraid for the commercial, but also always looking for innovative, underground and unknown musical terrain. Their passion for music has through the years broadened further and further; incorporating everything qualified as 'quality' to their dj sets and productions. Whether it's electro, fidget, baile funk, minimal, house, acid, techno, midget or disco, the HOMEWORK record bags are a melting pot of all sort of quality sounds. Not only do the boys spin records from such labels as Ed Banger, Boys Noize, Mad Decent and Turbo Recordings, but also from such underground labels as New Judas, Sound Pellegrino and Made To Play. Taking a lot of inspiration from such artists as Renaissance Man, Style Of Eye, Tiga, Mr. Oizo, Noob, Justin Martin, Laidback Luke and Afrojack, amongst many others.
But the most important factor of all is whether the crowd is going wild. In their short history, the two proved they know how to make a room full of kids sweat their socks off. www.myspace.com/officialhomework
